Filmaray Torch System Overview
📌 The Filmaray Torch system consists of 2 to 12 Filmaray modules connected to a system base, controlled by specialized software for data management.
🧪 It utilizes the Filmaray Pouch, a self-contained, disposable system housing all chemistry needed to isolate, amplify, and detect nucleic acids from a sample.
💿 The system is compatible with all existing Filmaray panels and supports high-throughput environments via the system base touchscreen.
Starting and Managing a Run
👆 Begin a run by selecting an available module on the dashboard and scanning the pouch barcode, or manually entering the lot number, serial number, and pouch type.
🔵 A module selected to start a run will show a flashing blue light; after pouch insertion, a flashing green light confirms proper seating.
🟢 Once initiated, the module light shows solid green, and the run in progress screen displays the approximate remaining time.
Data Management and Reporting
🖥️ The Browse Run screen displays a tabulated list of runs stored in the local database, accessible via the toolbar.
📄 Reports can be viewed immediately upon run completion, printed, or saved as a PDF file using the "Save" option on the View Report page.
✏️ The Edit Sample ID function, accessible under "Actions" on the View Report page, allows for correcting errors made during initial run setup.
System Configuration and User Management
⚙️ New pouch modules are added to the system by navigating to Settings > Pouch Modules and selecting "Install New Pouch".
👤 New operators can be created either during the start run workflow via "Add/Edit Operator" or by navigating to Settings > Operators.
💾 Runs can be archived (saved to a .FAS file) via Settings > Archive, which runs in the background, with the status monitored on the Archive Log page.
Key Points & Insights
➡️ If a run must be stopped prematurely, select "Abort" from the time remaining screen; note that the data generated will not be available for analysis.
➡️ For data security, use "Export Anonymous Runs" to replace the Sample ID with the text "anonymous" when exporting files to a removable drive.
➡️ To restore previously archived runs, navigate to the options menu and select "Import Run" while a removable drive containing the FAS file is connected.
