(Pertemuan ke-1) Khulasoh Ta'zhim Al-Ilmi - Ustadz Ghozi Abiyyi

The Virtue and Purpose of Seeking Knowledge (Thalabul Ilmi)
📌 Seeking knowledge (thalabul ilmi) is a highly virtuous act, emphasized by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a path that facilitates entry into Paradise.
📜 The primary aim of learning is to realize khashyah, the profound fear/awe of Allah, as stated in Surah Fatir, verse 28: "Indeed, only those who have knowledge among His servants fear Allah."
⚖️ Allah elevates believers who possess knowledge "by degrees" (darajat), as mentioned in Surah Al-Mujadilah, verse 11. True scholarship (ulama) is defined by those who act upon their knowledge, not just by title or position.

The Superiority of Religious Knowledge
⭐ Allah exalts scholars by associating their testimony of Tawhid (La ilaha illallah) alongside His own testimony and that of the angels (Surah Ali Imran, verse 18).
☀️ The Prophet (PBUH) indicated that Allah shows favor to a servant by granting them understanding in the religion (fiqh ad-din), as worship cannot be performed correctly without knowledge.
💎 Worldly possessions are temporary tests, but knowledge is described as "better and more enduring" (Surah Taha, verse 131).

The Esteem of Scholars and Students of Knowledge
🌙 The scholar is compared to the full moon ($\text{qar}$), superior to worshippers, who are compared to stars. The scholar’s light increases proportionally to their adherence (ittiba') to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who is likened to the sun ($\text{Syams}$).
👑 Scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets (warathatul anbiya), inheriting knowledge rather than worldly wealth (dirhams or currency).
🙏 The angels and all creation, including creatures in the sea, ask for forgiveness for those who seek knowledge.

Key Points & Insights
➡️ Always supplicate: "My Lord, increase me in knowledge" ($\text{Rabbizidni 'ilma}$), as this is the only thing the Prophet (PBUH) was commanded to ask for an increase in.
➡️ Knowledge seeking requires action; benefit is only gained when the learned material is implemented, leading to the promised goodness ($\text{khair}$).
➡️ Success in religion and learning is dependent on adhering to the correct methodology ($\text{manhaj}$); a sound methodology ensures straightness and prevents wasted time in studies.
➡️ Never become complacent or resistant to learning; the Prophet's request for more knowledge demonstrates that everyone needs continuous learning to avoid ignorance, which is inherently disliked.
