SAFETY IN CARPENTRY | 8 Simple Tips to keep you Safe | MPWS | Workshop Practice | VKVSir

Workshop Safety Rules and Practices
📌 The majority of accidents among practitioners, leaders, professionals, and students occur due to a lack of following procedures and improvisation, leading to injury or inability to work.
👩‍🔧 Safety Rule #1 emphasizes never appearing too casual around machinery, referencing incidents where workers/students were injured near machines or moving parts.
👕 Loose clothing, such as oversized jackets, dangling dupattas (for girls), or long skirts, should be avoided as they can get caught in machinery, leading to severe consequences.

Tool Handling and Machine Operation
🛠️ Safety Rule #2 advises not to force cutting tools during use, as they might break or slip, potentially causing injury.
✋ Safety Rule #3 mandates the always use of clamps or vices to secure workpieces firmly, as applying excessive pressure can cause tools to slip.
🔪 Safety Rule #4 states to never carry pointed instruments in pockets or hold loose items, as these can cause harm if the user slips or runs near operating machinery.

Work Environment and Compliance
🧹 Safety Rule #6 stresses keeping the workshop free from debris, scrap materials, and tools; designated areas must be assigned for raw materials and finished products to maintain order and safety.
🧑‍🔧 Safety Rule #7 requires obtaining prior permission from the technician or supervisor before operating any machine or tool, ensuring familiarity with its operations and restrictions.
⚡ Before starting any machine, especially electrical ones, verify that the setup is correct, there are no stray items inside, and no one has a hand trapped or near the operating area.

Key Points & Insights
➡️ Always secure the workpiece firmly (using vices or clamps) before starting any operation to prevent it from coming loose and causing injury.
➡️ Never load stock material into a machine faster than its rated capacity or normal pressure/speed; excessive pressure can cause breakage or kickback.
➡️ When using power feed or machines, allow the equipment to reach full operating speed before starting the feed process to ensure optimal cutting and accident prevention.
