"The Role of Islamic Religion & Philosophy in the Era of Imitative Reason (AI)" ~ Prof. Dr. Robby Habiba Abror, M.Hum.

Islamic Philosophy on Religion and AI Era Challenges
📌 The lecture theme is "The Role of Religion and Islamic Philosophy in the Era of Imitation Intellect (AI)," focusing on maintaining intellectual clarity and moral direction against fast information and instant knowledge.
📜 Sarif al-Jurjani defined religion as a divine decree that guides rational people toward what is best for them through rational demonstration (Burhani), while Al-Farabi defined it as beliefs and practices set by the Prophet for the general public to achieve happiness (using the term Al-Millah).
⚖️ Ibn Rushd (Averroes) argued that philosophy (Hikmah) and religion (Shari'ah) are companions that naturally befriend each other, emphasizing their harmonious relationship.
🤖 The era of AI brings challenges like doomscrolling, FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), and Phubbing (phone snubbing), highlighting a human tendency towards self-admiration mirroring the Narcissus myth in the digital stream.

Technology's Double-Edged Sword and Human Sovereignty
🦟 Advanced robotics include insect-sized drones (like Harvard's RoboBee) used for surveillance, challenging the Quranic verse that creation other than God cannot create a fly, as these are manufactured robots, not biological life.
🚗 Technology integration shows risks: self-driving cars in China fail to navigate unexpected obstacles like fallen trees, and AI-guided weaponry (like the targeted assassination of Professor Fakhrizadeh in Iran) demonstrates dangerous autonomous decision-making.
🧠 Key actions against technological overreliance are digital detox (disconnecting from screens) and AI detachment, prioritizing human brain sovereignty over machine control to prevent surrendering autonomy of thought.
💖 AI cannot replace the "echo of the soul" (Gema Jiwa); human-to-human interaction is transformational, whereas machine interaction is merely transactional.

Key Points & Insights
➡️ Resist becoming like Narcissus today—obsessed with perfecting one's digital persona on social media platforms, leading one to drown in the "digital river."
➡️ To combat spiritual malaise and anxiety in the modern age, practitioners should return to Dhikr (remembrance of God), as "only with the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest" ($\text{ala bidhikrillahi tatmainul qulub}$).
➡️ Human intelligence and civilization (Umran/Hadarah) develop through social interaction, not isolation, as emphasized by Ibn Khaldun; use technology to foster positive interaction, not to create an "alone together" dynamic (Sherry Turkel).
➡️ Utilize technology as a servant; do not let it confiscate your limited time, and always double-check information provided by generative AI tools.
