What was the strategy used in the past search engine optimization (SEO) era?

The strategy involved analyzing search volume versus the number of listed products (supply). Identifying keywords where search volume was increasing while supply volume was flat or decreasing was key to gaining traffic.

How quickly is the shift from search to AI-based recommendation happening?

The speaker suggests that the long-term shift to AI is happening rapidly, estimating only about 2 to 3 years remain before search dominance significantly wanes.

Why are online stars succeeding based on deficiency rather than exceptional talent like traditional TV stars?

Online stars succeed because their extreme deficiency grants them authenticity and representation for a niche audience. Unlike TV stars, who often lack deficiency, these niche stars resonate deeply with a dedicated, supportive audience whose loyalty AI cannot replicate.

If someone has only advantages (beauty, wealth) and no clear deficiency, how can they leverage this new content trend?

Advantages are secondary; they can be used decoratively. The core strategy lies in cultivating and expressing a *genuine* deficiency to gain representation status, which is a more powerful driver of audience connection online.

How long does it realistically take for someone starting from zero base to monetize on YouTube?

It is realistic to expect about 16 weeks plus 3 days to achieve even a minimal monetization (e.g., earning 10,000 KRW), emphasizing that success is not instantaneous, even if others make it seem easy.

What is the expected profit margin for creators based on their business model?

Profit margins vary: affiliate partners typically see around 5% margin. Those building brands or working as straight influencers/advertisers see around 20%. Those selling their own digital courses can see margins around 80%, with software and education being the highest, nearing 70-80%.

The End of Search and the Rise of Recommendation
📌 The speaker predicts the "end of search" driven by the shift from search-based models (like old SEO strategies) to recommendation-based AI algorithms.
🔍 Historically, media evolved from Mass Communication (recommendation/curation) to Search (SEO), and is now returning to a sophisticated recommendation era led by AI.
💻 Past strategies relying on search volume vs. supply volume are outdated; current platforms prioritize recommendation algorithms (like those in Instagram and TikTok).

The Power of Deficit and Authenticity
📌 "My deficit gives me the qualification" to represent others with similar lacks, which builds representativeness and authenticity.
👤 Unlike AI or traditional TV stars who lack deficits, online stars emerge from extreme, genuine deficits (e.g., low income, specific physical traits).
🤝 An audience congregates around a shared deficit, forming a sharp "cheering squad" that companies will actively seek for collaboration.

Navigating the New Creator Economy
➡️ Focus on one global recommendation platform (Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube) and nurture it intensely; this single focus can solve most business problems.
➡️ Actionable Sales: Once an audience (cheering squad) is gathered, selling becomes easy; companies will reach out, or affiliates (Coupang Partners, Naver Brand Connect) can be used to prove sales capability instantly.
➡️ New creators starting from zero can expect approximately 16 weeks plus 3 days to achieve even a minimal monetization ($10,000 KRW).

Key Points & Insights
➡️ The key to success in the AI era is having deficits that AI cannot possess, making genuine struggle more compelling than flawless advantage.
➡️ Revenue proof through affiliate sales validates your influence; worrying about creating a product or service comes later, as companies flock to proven audiences.
➡️ Success in this new era leads to being overwhelmed by opportunities; successful creators often end up unintentionally declining opportunities due to sheer volume.
