21 Aiming Tips And Tricks To Improve in Apex Legends

Aiming Fundamentals and Sensitivity
📌 Lowering your sensitivity, whether on controller or M/KB, generally improves aim consistency by allowing for smaller, more precise adjustments and avoiding overshooting.
🎮 High sensitivity is often used by content creators to make gameplay look more impressive, but precise aiming is usually more critical than advanced movement techniques.
👀 Determine where to focus your eyes: look at the crosshair for long distances (25m+ with 1x optic, 40m+ with zoomed optic) and focus on the enemy for closer ranges to track movement better.

Crosshair Placement and Warm-up
🧠 Master crosshair placement by keeping it where an enemy is likely to appear, minimizing the necessary aiming adjustments during a fight.
🚫 Stop the bad habit of running around looking at the ground due to loot placement; always keep the crosshair raised to head-level height.
⏱️ Dedicate 5 minutes in the firing range or one mixtape match as a warm-up; this offers more aiming opportunities than waiting for engagements in a standard match.

Close-Range Combat and Pacing
🏃 Utilize hip firing more often in close-range battles to maintain higher movement speed, balancing aiming with necessary mobility.
🎯 A trick for perfect hip-fire accuracy is to briefly ADS, fire 3-7 bullets (weapon dependent), then un-ADS and repeat, allowing you to maintain speed while shooting accurately.
🐌 Slow down and focus on bullet efficiency, especially with slower weapons like snipers (aiming for the head), rather than rushing actions and wasting ammo.

Recoil Control Techniques
📈 Learn the recoil pattern of your most used weapons by observing impact marks on a wall and counteracting the pattern by moving your input in the opposite direction (e.g., RE-45 kicks up and right, so pull down and left).
🔄 Exploit the recoil smoothing mechanic: moving your aim horizontally while firing cancels out vertical recoil; strafe one direction while pulling aim in the opposite direction.
〰️ Jitter aiming (rapidly shaking your aim at the speed of the weapon's fire rate) can cancel out recoil, especially effective with automatic weapons like the Flatline and Havoc.

Positional Awareness and Equipment
👓 Sit closer to your monitor to increase the game's field of view on your screen, making small details easier to spot and reducing external distractions.
🧘 Take scheduled breaks when you notice decision-making and aiming worsening due to fatigue; returning with full focus improves performance.
🎨 Combat autopilot by changing your reticle color (e.g., cyan or bright green) periodically, forcing renewed concentration on the aim point.
🤝 Use 1v1 fights with friends in the firing range to quickly test new settings and techniques without the pressure of public matches.

Advanced Aiming & Prediction
🎚️ Adjust your Field of View (FOV); a lower FOV makes enemies appear larger and sensitivity feel faster, while a higher FOV allows you to see more of your surroundings (recommendation is 100-106 FOV).
🔭 Compensate for the slower feeling of higher magnification optics by adjusting per-optic settings to maintain consistent aim speed across different scopes.
🧠 Predict enemy movement by anticipating what you would do in their situation (e.g., low-health enemies often shield-up and then jump-peek cover).
🚶 Use your movement keys (strafing) to assist aiming, taking small steps toward an enemy slightly off-center rather than making large corrections solely with the aim input.

Key Points & Insights
➡️ For precise, consistent aim, prioritize lowering your sensitivity, despite what flashy content creators use.
➡️ Crosshair placement is crucial: stop looking at the ground while moving; keep your crosshair positioned where an enemy might emerge.
➡️ To combat recoil effectively, learn the pattern, use recoil smoothing (opposite horizontal aim input while strafing), or try jitter aiming for automatic weapons.
➡️ Combat player fatigue by taking breaks immediately upon noticing poor decision-making or missed shots, leading to better focus upon return.
