What is the fundamental reason companies are reducing fresher hiring?

The primary reason companies hire freshers is to invest in them, train them, and then deploy them into billable client roles to generate revenue; reduced hiring suggests a weak business pipeline.

What impact are the new H-1B visa costs having on the IT motivation?

The increased cost of new H-1B visas is diluting the motivation many professionals previously had about working in the US IT sector.

Why are middle management layers being affected by layoffs?

When freshers and junior staff hiring stops, managers have fewer people to oversee, leading to smaller teams that require fewer managerial positions.

What are the recommended alternative targets for IT professionals looking for stable employment in India?

Professionals should target Global Captive Centers (GCCs) of major non-IT corporations, product-based SaaS companies in sectors like healthcare or finance, or look for remote roles.

What type of roles should IT workers actively stay away from now?

Professionals should avoid roles where they are only a coordinator or a general project manager without possessing strong technical skills or essential domain knowledge.

IT Industry Shift Signals
📌 Companies have significantly reduced or stopped fresher hiring over the last three to four years, indicating a weak business pipeline.
🗺️ The influx of H-1B visas becoming much more expensive will cause the number of people moving to the US from India to drastically reduce.
📉 Layoffs are frequently occurring in the middle management layer because fewer junior staff are being hired, necessitating smaller teams and fewer managers.
🤖 There is a growing mindset where companies first question if a job can be done by software, automation, or AI before hiring a human.

Strategic Career Adaptation
🎯 Target Global Captive Centers (GCCs) of large banks, retail, or manufacturing companies, as they are currently thriving in India.
💻 Focus on SaaS companies or product companies specializing in high-demand sectors like healthcare or finance, rather than traditional services.
🌍 Explore remote job opportunities working for multinational companies while residing in India, partly due to reduced US travel via H-1B.
🛠️ Develop deep expertise in futuristic technologies such as AI/ML, Cloud, Data, Cybersecurity, AR/VR, or Blockchain to stay relevant.

Skill Set Evolution and Focus
🚫 Steer clear of roles that are solely coordination-based or general project management without underlying technical or domain expertise.
💡 Deep technical skills or strong domain knowledge combined with project management/coordination is acceptable, but being *only* a coordinator is ill-advised.
🔬 Manual, repetitive support jobs are decreasing, meaning only individuals who can solve complex technical problems will thrive.
🎓 For parents: If a child does not show a very keen interest or high aptitude for technology, parents should consider alternative career paths outside of IT/Computer Science.

Key Points & Insights
➡️ The era where IT service giants like TCS and Infosys thrived primarily on the services business model is consolidating.
➡️ Learning a futuristic skill set is presented as the only insurance against obsolescence due to automation and reduced demand for legacy skills.
➡️ Survival in the future IT market hinges on strong technical aptitude and the ability to handle complex problem-solving, not just general coordination.
