Bumi Morowali Kembali ke Negara! Satgas Halilintar Sita Tambang Ilegal Bernilai Triliunan Rupiah!

National Task Force Operation on Illegal Mining
📌 The Indonesian government, through Task Force Halilintar (Satgas Halilintar), has decisively retaken control of over 2,300 hectares of illegal mining land across five provinces and 12 regencies.
🏭 23 mining companies, primarily in the nickel and coal sectors, have had warning signs posted indicating the state has reclaimed the territory.
🌲 The main focus of this operation involved mines found operating illegally within forest areas, with significant violations identified at PT Bumi Morowali Utama (BMU) and PT DSMI in Central Sulawesi.

Violations and Financial Impact
📉 The environmental damage and potential fines resulting from violations by companies like PT BMU and PT DSMI are estimated to reach over Rp2.3 trillion.
🔍 At PT BMU, violations covered 62 hectares (46 hectares within their permitted area and 16 hectares outside), while PT DSMI illegally operated across 241 hectares entirely within protected forest areas.
🗺️ This initial phase covered 2,317 hectares reclaimed, with the next phase targeting an additional 2,328 hectares across three provinces and seven regencies, extending operations to East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, and Bangka Belitung.

Enforcement and Future Restoration
🤝 The task force involves a joint team including the TNI, Police (Polri), Attorney General's Office (Kejaksaan Agung), and BPKP (Financial and Development Supervisory Agency) for comprehensive enforcement, security, and auditing.
🌳 A key subsequent step involves beginning environmental reclamation and rehabilitation in the seized areas, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (Kemen LHK) and local governments.
🛡️ To prevent recurrence, permanent security posts involving TNI/Polri, immigration, customs, and public order officials will be established, alongside strengthened maritime patrols to curb illegal exports.

Key Points & Insights
➡️ The government's stance is clear: "We regulate the illegal, and we encourage the legal to produce," emphasizing the commitment to investment without sacrificing forests, law, or national sovereignty.
➡️ The operation sends a strong moral and political message that national resources belong to the nation, and economic development cannot override environmental protection and the rule of law.
➡️ Potential fines and recoveries from illegal mining are estimated to exceed Rp3 trillion, which will be allocated to remediation efforts and strengthening national mining supervision.
➡️ Enforcement will proceed beyond physical seizure, with all involved companies facing legal processing, ranging from administrative sanctions to criminal prosecution.
