Top 50 Outstanding Sustainable Development Businesses 2024 | Investment Bridge | #theseedogreenfuture Episode 9

The 3P Framework for Sustainable Development
📌 The core message revolves around the 3Ps: People, Planet, and Profit, emphasizing that business operations must integrate profitability (Profit) while having a sustainable impact on society (People) and the environment (Planet).
♻️ Sustainable development is presented as an irreversible process that increasingly brings clear benefits to businesses.
🤝 The goal is for businesses, as the main actors, to generate profit in a way that ensures their long-term sustainability regarding their impact on the planet and society.

Corporate ESG Commitment and Challenges in Vietnam
📊 A PwC report indicated that only 35% of listed Vietnamese enterprises had set ESG commitments, while 58% planned to implement them within the next 2-4 years (surveyed May-August 2022, 234 participants).
⚠️ Listed companies in Vietnam show a lack of high-level leadership engagement in driving ESG commitments.
🧠 The "People" element is crucial in ESG practice to achieve long-term impact and foster a more responsible business environment.

Unilever's Green Transformation and Resource Management
🌿 Unilever is transforming product design, shifting from fossil fuel-based ingredients to 100% nature-based cleaning components under their "Clean Future" strategy.
📉 Packaging goals include increasing recyclability and reducing virgin plastic use by replacing it with recycled plastic; current packaging achieves about 64% recyclability.
⚙️ Unilever achieved Net Zero for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions (factory/office boundaries) by 2021 and is urging suppliers to transition to green energy and reduce emissions.

Human Capital and Technological Integration
👤 Investment in human capital (People), across both the Board of Directors and management, is critical for steering businesses toward sustainable development.
📚 Re-training staff is necessary to equip them to control and apply new technologies (like AI and automation) rather than being replaced by them, focusing on necessary new skills, such as ESG expertise for European export standards.
🔗 Total resources include full-time staff, flexible part-time staff, external resources (like connecting with startup ecosystems for technology solutions), and technology resources (AI, chatbots) for efficiency.

Key Points & Insights
