Toto Sugiri Blak-Blakkan Bicara Bisnis Data Center dan Kedaulatan Digital Indonesia | THE VISITOR

Data Center Infrastructure and Certification
📌 Data Centers are essential for storing all forms of digital data, including programming code, content, and personal/customer information.
🏗️ PT. DCI Indonesia operates one of the largest and most advanced Data Centers in Indonesia, holding the highest Tier IV certification.
⚙️ Tier IV certification ensures a maximum allowed downtime of only 5 minutes per year, achieved through fully redundant infrastructure, including dual power lines for generators and UPS systems.

Operational Excellence and Technology Adoption
📊 The facility monitors critical components like temperature, humidity, and power using advanced technology to anticipate issues before they cause outages, ensuring high Service Level Agreement (SLA) compliance.
🤖 Automation is key to efficiency; the center employs minimal on-site staff (around 100-104 employees across multiple sites) as robots handle routine checks like temperature monitoring and cable verification.
💡 Energy efficiency is a focus, with plans to utilize renewable energy, including developing a 30 Megawatt (MW) solar panel farm across 30 hectares of their 86-hectare land to reduce reliance on external power.

Market Landscape and Digital Sovereignty
🌍 Indonesia is noted as having the most Data Centers in Southeast Asia, though current national capacity is around 150 MW, significantly lower than Singapore's capacity serving its population.
🔑 Hosting data within Indonesian Data Centers is crucial for digital sovereignty, placing data under Indonesian law, which simplifies government oversight for national security and consumer data protection compared to data stored abroad (e.g., in Singapore).
📈 The market is expected to grow exponentially; projections suggest Indonesia could approach 1000 MW capacity in the next decade, driven by global tech players (like Google, Amazon, Facebook) increasingly choosing local infrastructure rather than building their own.

Key Points & Insights
➡️ Redundancy is paramount for Tier IV; infrastructure components like generators and UPS systems are deliberately doubled ("double-double") to prevent any single point of failure from causing downtime.
➡️ Global companies often choose to colocate their servers within existing Indonesian Data Centers rather than building new facilities, signaling confidence in local infrastructure providers.
➡️ The future focus for the industry involves maximizing storage efficiency and reducing power consumption, exemplified by new cooling technologies that operate effectively at higher temperatures (e.g., 46°C).
➡️ A final message emphasizes that Indonesia can move from being a consumer to a producer country, encouraging the younger generation to become entrepreneurs.
